TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, I have a NTHS (National Technical Honor Society) meeting at 1:40 p.m. both my Parents are attending the meeting, I believe this will be the first time my parents are attending a meeting for me at school. They are pretty proud of me for this and the dual inrollment program i'm doing with TCTC (Tricounty Technical College). They said I'm doing great with school. It makes me happy to see them proud of me for doing stuff.

SO YESTERDAY THOUGH!

Yesterday, we had a lot going on at one time. It was about 7:00 P.M. I left and went to Zaxbys to grab some food for my manager and office lady and the stockers. I was gone maybe 20 minutes, when I walked in Quality Foods...My office manager says "Put the food down run over there make sure she doesnt run, We got us one." So I put the food down and walked over there. She said "Sir, please don't take me to jail. I need to have my medicine and I need to get HOME to my kids." I said "Ma'am do we look like the police? NO, we work at a grocery store." "Please, my kids are in the HOSPITAL, they need me Sir." She lied to try and make us feel bad for her and honestly if your kids are in the hospital, why would you do something as stupid as steal? There is no point in stealing...the woman was on drugs. I know this because she had needles in her pocketbook and a burnt spoon. She did not get arrested though, the officer put her on trespassing notice. Not everybody goes to jail for stealing but some people do and if you are going to steal do not come to Quailty Foods...We catch a lot of shoplifters at Quality Foods. Thats one thing I love about working there, we send bout five people to jail every month.

Saving money

I have been trying to save money for awhile now. It is hard for me to save money for some reason. I make about $160 a week does anyone have any ideas that could help me to save money? I will listen to everyones advise.

Counterfeit Checks

Stores who cash checks will sometimes get counterfeit checks trying to be cashed. That is illegal people to get a job just like everyone that work at Quality Foods, Bi-Lo, Walmart, Zaxbys and etc. We pay for everything we need, we don't steal for our money or food. We caught a woman yesterday, she was trying to cash another counterfeit check, she has cashed two with us and we knew we was trying to find out who it was and get her arrested. She came in yesterday and we saw her, we called the cops and they finally arrested her for counterfeiting checks.

April 12 - 15

So yesterday, I asked my boss for my Spring Break Vacation...He told me Definitely not! He said " I can't let you have those days off, I'm going to need you here."
" I understand boss man..."
"I'm just kidding of course you can have those days"
"Thank you sir"
He's very sarcastic to us guys in the back. He likes to joke around with us and talk about his kids baseball. I really enjoy working for such a great boss man. He's kind, protective over his workers. If someone came up there to fight someone that works for him....That is a automatic restraining order on that person. I really like the way he does things in the store...

This Saturday

I'm off this Saturday, I don't know how I managed to do that...Its more than likely because my boss wants me to work nights next Saturday instead of this Saturday. I'm perfectly fine with that because I kinda like closing on Saturdays its entertaining....We clean a lot on Saturdays well at the end of the month we do. The first of the month on Saturday is TERRIBLE because we run around like chickens with our head cut off. But I'll get through it alive HOPEFULLY>.

Work today

So today at work is going to be so slow and boring. It always is for some reason :/ I don't particular like work but every Thursday is the best work day because i get my check every Thursday. :) so I'm happy about that atleast. I'm not going to have many people to talk to today because my friend that helps me stock is off today, so that leaves me alone in the back no one to talk to.

SOOO my birthday

My birthday was Saturday the 8th I turned 17 years old. I had a decent birthday Saturday except I had to work from nine o'clock to four o'clock. The only thing good about them hours on your birthday is you have all night to celebrate. I honestly didn't celebrate my birthday all I done was go out to eat.

Jobs don't schedule you around your birthday, actually if it wasn't the first of the month I would have been able to get off earlier. I don't mind though its a job.

This Saturday

This Saturday is my birthday, I will be turning seventeen on the 8th of March. This week will probably be busy almost everyday because its the first week of the month. I wish I could have had off on my birthday, I wanted to go out to eat with my family and friends. Instead of eating I will be working my butt off that night at work.

Dressing for work

Most people don't think of this but customers really look at the way the workers dress. If you come in with a shirt to little showing half your belly then they will judge you. I go in almost everyday with a button up shirt and jeans with Sperry's. Dressing is a big factor on a job.

So this week I have to work everyday...Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The only day I have off is Sunday and that's only because we do not open on Sundays. I will be getting close to Thirty-five hours this week. Last week during all the snow I also got close to thirty-four hours because I came into work early almost everyday. Monday I worked 4-9:30, Tuesday 2-9:30, Thursday 12-9:30, Friday and Saturday 3-10:30. I love working during the week but in the morning kinda...Its funner in the mornings that at night.

Snow weather

I hate working at a grocery store in bad weather because the business is outrageous. When it snows we are so busy with everybody buying milk, bread, and eggs. The last time we got snow we closed early both days because that wednesday we had maybe twenty customers the whole day, We spent more on bills and paying workers than we made that day.

February 4th

So Quality Foods was sorda busy yesterday, but not as busy as I imagined it would be. When you have a job you need to try your best not to be late. Yesterday, I couldnt help it. I was about thirty minutes late because I had a hole in my front tire , but my boss didn't mind because I'm hardly ever late to work. I usually get there about ten minutes early. So just remember its always good to get to work early.

One month down

January is finally over, we wasnt as busy as I thought we were going to be. Saturday the 1st was so busy, that makes me wonder if the whole month will be busy. One amazing thing about having a job is you get taxes, I've never been able to do that so its gonna be great. As a student I will get everything I paid in which will be close to 700$. It will probably be gone fast seeing how thats the first time ill ever have that much money at one time.

Essay!

I hate having school work on my back to finish because I am always up so late. I get off work at 9:30 and then have homework to finish it gets hard to handle but I manage to do it. Right now I have to go finish a essay for Mrs. Dickerson. If I dont I will have ICU when I come back to school on monday. So I have to go finish that. This is all Im going to right today so Ill talk to you guys tomorrow.

Long Break

We have a 3 day weekend for martin luther king day. so this will be my last blog till i guess tuesday. I have work everyday but sunday and this is going to suck having to work on a day we are out of school. well I guess you don't always get what you want. Right? Well I guess this is going to be it for today...We'll see y'all next week!

Raise!

Do you know how to get a raise?

 

To get a raise, you need to do everything correct. Try your best to get moved to the back some people call it "kissing butt" call it what you want. I guarantee you that you will be making more than regular pay. Sometimes it might not be fun in the back but i guarantee you that you will love that quarter more an hour. although that doesn't sound like much, it really shows come pay day...say you make $7.25 now, when you get that raise and start making $7.50. Say you make $213.88 (7.25 an hour) and with the raise 221.25 (7.50 an hour) I know that's not a whole lot but its well worth working to get. I love my job and sometimes you have to step up and ask for a raise. Like for instants I've been in the back since about May or end of April, I haven't got a raise yet but coming up on my year I plan to ask for a raise. Sometimes you need to just go with your gut on things, Maybe not everything because it could turn around and bite you.

More Hours!

The key to getting more hours at your job is to do whatever it is that you have to do, constantly. Do your job good and exactly the way your boss wants you to do it. If your boss sees that you do not want to work by the way you act towards customers then he won't schedule you a lot of hours. That's how I got in the stocking crew because I did exactly what my boss asked me to do< I always had a smile on my face doing it, I never called in sick just to go somewhere, and I was always working doing something. My boss said I was one of the few baggers that he liked. I get close to 30 hours every week now because I am good at what I do, I never complain when I'm asked to do something, and I never say "okay" it's always "Yes Sir."

Stockers!

So last week, my boss called a meeting with the stockers only. I'm not going to lie or act like I wasn't scared when I truly was. I thought we had done something wrong honestly. The meeting was basically about how well we do our job, and if he didn't have a good stock crew at night...he couldn't count on anyone to keep the store running. So this really boosted our heads up because we knew the boss counts on us to run his store at night not the managers.

Christmas Break!

My Christmas break went to good...other than the fact that i had to work everyday during it. Work is always busy during the holidays mainly because everybody is doing dinners and other businesses are busy for parents are shopping for presents. Grocery stores make the most money around holidays mainly because you need food to eat at dinners.
